About its Nature.
The Manu Learning Centre is a research and education hub within a regenerating forest, showcasing nearly two decades of successful conservation. Since 2003, it has hosted one of the Amazon’s largest and longest-running biodiversity studies.
Despite Manu’s status as the most biodiverse place on Earth, it faces threats from logging, farming, and mining driven by poverty and population growth.
Quick Facts
The Centre
The Manu Learning Centre is a research and education facility, living proof of a unique regenerating forest that demonstrates how over 19 years of conservation work can recover a unique ecosystem. This is home to one of the longest-running and largest biodiversity studies in the Amazon, with scientific data collected on key taxonomic species and vegetation since 2003.
Why to protect?
The Manu Learning Centre is a 643-hectare private reserve in the heart of Manu Biosphere Reserve, buffer zone of the Manu National Park. It is a research, education, and sustainable tourism facility. It is living proof that after more than 40 years of non extractive activities, and more than 18 years of conservation work this unique landscape can recover and be sustainable.
